INTERNAL LINKS (INTERLINKING) SEO
Inbound links are very important to confirm topical relevancy of your pages. But this is just a part of the link building plan that works to boost search engine rankings. There is another side to linking. That is interlinking. With the right implementation of it, you can really maximize the value of your SEO link building process.
As I have explained before, the ideal link value would come from the most relevant page of Domain A (link source) to the most relevant page of Domain B (link recipient) using the best anchor text related to the target phrase you are optimizing for.
This will bring the best incoming link value, but now we improve it further, via interlinking. Internal links act as a “router” of relevancy. Connecting your internal most relevant page with its supporting pages (we have developed an internal SEO tool to determine this) is the best way to implement interlinking. This approach “routes” all confirming relevancy from incoming links (from external sites) across your site’s pages and into your most relevant page for the target phrase, closing the equation of link value.
One example in action is already on this post. Wordpress has plugins to automate the interlinking process, but most we tested are keyphrase based. We prefer instead, to retrieve search engine data in determining the “connecting dots”. Therefore we do it manually. What works… takes work.
